Part 2: Expanding on Radio Operation #
So far, we’ve followed signals from circuits and antennas through the ionosphere. Now we’ll bring those ideas into the station: connecting equipment safely, making adjustments, and exchanging information with other operators.
In the chapters ahead, we’ll explore safety practices specific to amateur installations and learn how to set up an effective HF station. The operating chapters cover voice, CW, and digital techniques, along with activities like emergency communication and contesting. We’ll also look at the rules that govern General class operation.
These chapters build on the operating knowledge covered at the Technician level. Whether you’re already active on the air or still setting up your first station, they’ll help you prepare to use the additional privileges of a General Class License.
