Chapter 8: Safety #
Station safety rests on habits taught for the earlier licenses: tying off on a tower, bonding ground rods, placing arrestors at the cable entry, and checking RF exposure. Other basic precautions still apply: keep antennas clear of power lines and treat stored electrical energy with care.
Bigger jobs stretch those habits, and the stakes rise with them. You’ll learn to work on a tower without risking a long fall and to give a lightning surge one controlled path to ground. You’ll also confirm that your station keeps people within the FCC’s RF exposure limits.
